Can I visit if...

Where to park my car ?

There are a car park near the site (around 100 meters before the caves). It is possible too to park your car along the road.

Arrivé en haut, à l’intersection, il y a une placette avec un parking voiture gratuit à 100m de l’entrée des Grottes du Régulus.Il peut également y avoir des places à suivre, le long du boulevard de la falaise, mais si le parking est libre, un conseil : garez-vous à cet emplacement car si au delà, il n’y avait plus de place, vous seriez dans l’obligation de refaire le tour de la commune !

Where to park my bike?

You can find bicycles racks to the Regulus' caves' entrance.

I move with difficulty or I am in weelchair. The site it is easily accessible?

The visit of the site last 45 minutes. You walk on 200 meters of the cliff. There are handrails on the site. The route of the caves included around 100 steps (30 to go to the ticket office and 30 others steps to go outside).

In fact, the site is not accesible to people in weelchair, in walking frame, and to the pushchair...The city hall has an exemption for that, dates back to 26 June 2012. 26 juin 2012.

I am claustrophobic and/or I am fear of heights ?

The Regulus' caves are composed by two part : the first inside and a second outside.

About people who are claustrophobic, the first cave is the one narrow cave. The others caves will be large with a view point on the estuary of Gironde.

About people to have fear of height, you don’t see the foot of the cliff. The way is large and a a low wall protect you to the vue of estuary.

I am with a baby ?

We welcome children of all ages. We convince you having a baby carrier with you because we not recommend the pushchair to the site. I you want, we can lend baby carrier to you in exchange for an ID card.

Un porte-bébé vous sera utile car les poussettes ne sont pas admises sur le parcours de visite; nous pouvons vous en prêter un en échange d’une pièce d’identité.

Pour un nourrisson, prévoyez de bien le couvrir en fonction des conditions climatiques.

I am with my dog ?

Pets are accepted on a leash.

Attention : un chien bruyant peut gêner le travail du guide et les autres visiteurs. Merci de votre compréhension.

Un point d’eau extérieur « Bar à Toutou » extérieur est accessible à l’entrée de la billetterie.

I am hard of hearing ?

Yes, we have translation on paper, inside each caves, in this 5 languages : english, dutch, german, italian and spanish.

What is the difference...

Catering

Guided tour VS Guided on your own

The entrance fee is to 8.70 € to adult and 6.10 € to child. The guided tour is only in French.

If there are a lot of numerous visitors, a waiting time can be announced.

For individual, if you want book your places, it’s possible only :
- To the ticket office of the Regulus’ caves (open from 10:00 a.m to 12:30 a.m and 2:00 to 5:30 p.m).
- To the one of 17 tourists office of the « Royannais country », 48h in advance.

Nocturnes VS Déambulations

The « Nocturnes » : dramatize show only in French.

The « Déambulations » : without booking. Discover the Regulus’ caves during a walk to your rhythm, at sunset and in a unique place. Every Thursdays to july and august.

Jeu de piste Minidik VS Rallye de la Cagouille

Le Jeu de piste Minidik permettra aux enfants de découvrir l’Histoire des Grottes du Régulus de façon ludique. Il s’agit d’un petit questionnaire à remplir tout au long du parcours.

Le Rallye de la Cagouille est une visite spécifique à destination des groupes scolaires et centre de vacances.

Régulus VS Matata

To the Regulus’ caves, municipal site, we offer two kind of visit :

- With a guide in French (Time : 45 minutes) à 17h30)

- On your own with translations. Starts every 30 minutes

To the Matata’s caves, private site,can be visited with audio guide. For more informations : https://grottesdematata.com/

The visits of the two site are complementary.

Where is possible to have a picnic ?

You can picnic on the park situated above the Regulus’ cliffs. You can find on this place, tables and benchs.

It is a a beautiful place with a view point on the estuary of Gironde. 

Where I can have something to eat ?

The town of Meschers has numerous restaurants situated to the harbour, in the city centre and too on the beaches.

How We do dress to visit the caves ?

The caves' temperature is around 15°C, the second part of the site is outside. In order to the weather forecasting, you can take cap, sunglasses, water bottles or umbrella...
